Saketh Hegde emerges champion of the 2018 Aliv Grand Bahama Junior Open

TWO IN A ROW – Saketh Hegde was declared the victor of the 2018 Aliv Grand Bahama Junior Open held at the Reef Golf Course this past Friday and Saturday, June 1-2.

The Front 9

The Grand Bahama Junior Open was successful with two winners emerging: Grand Bahama Junior Open Champion, Saketh Hegde, and “Capture the Flag” winner (Ashley Michel).

Lou Parker, chairman of the Northern Junior Division said, “The Northern junior division of the Bahamas Golf Federation was proud to host the Aliv Grand Bahama Junior Open. The turnout was great, and we want to thank the sponsors especially Aliv, who helped to make the event great. We look forward to hosting this event next year.”

The Grand Bahama Junior Open Champion
Saketh Hegde emerged as the Grand Bahama Junior Open carding scores of 79-79. The weather conditions were favorable, and the golfers in the 18 & Under division made it an exciting event. This is Hegde’s second win this year, and looks promising to continue his steady play. Hedge was happy to have defended his title and looks forward to making it a three-peat win in 2019.

Capture The Flag
Every event, we have tournament flags, which the kids sign. At the end of the event, the lowest scorer for the event takes home one of the flags. One flag is held for the event sponsor, and the final flag is retained by the Fourteen Clubs Golf Academy and The Front 9.

Capturing the Event Flag with a score of 82-76 was Ashley Michel. This is her third flag for 2018. We will all be watching to see if our player with the lowest scoring average will be the winner of the most flags and our 2018 Player of the Year.

Our thanks go out to Aliv - Our Title Sponsor for the event, Max Russell and the staff at the Reef Golf Club at Our Lucaya and the parents and volunteers for making another event a huge success.

Our next event is the Brice & Newball Foundation Junior Shootout. This will be held at Lyford Cay Golf Club on June 16.
