The Bahamas Golf Federation hosted the annual Lyford Cay Classic at the exclusive
Lyford Cay Club over the weekend.
Winning the Gross Division with a score 70(-2) was Steven Kemp, a former member of the National Team who said he is now ready to begin active competition again. Pablo Nahmias finished 2nd with 75 and young Saketh Hegde shot 77 for third place.
In the Net Division the winner was another junior player Heathcliffe Kane who shot a 7 under net 65. In second place was Brian Albury at 67 and Vice President Anthony Hinsey finished 3rd with 70.
Men’s closest to the Pin and Longest Drive were won by Jim Laroda and Pablo Nahmias respectively. For the Ladies, Amarie Smith won both categories.
President Lynford Miller said that he was pleased with the participation and the competition. He was happy to see the junior golfers now coming to the forefront and not only competing but winning senior tournaments which bodes well for the future development of golf in The Bahamas.
Thanks were extended to the Lyford Cay Club for once again hosting the event, and other sponsors including Sands Beer, Bahama Grill, The Coral Restaurant and Rubis Gas (Oswald Moore).
This event was a part of the Sands Beer Cup series. The final event will be held at Royal Blue on September 21 and 22.
