The Power of Prayer

Margaret C. Mullings

Jesus spoke these words from the Gospel of Mark Chapter 11:24 “Therefore I say to you whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.”

My youngest son’s body lay lifeless on the bed and it appeared that much of his bodily fluids had been excreted. Although grim and the pronouncement by my oldest son’s words, Mommy, he is dead had greeted me from the driveway. I knew, my son needed a miracle. Quickly lifting his little body from the bed; I transported him to his favourite place: The play room and laid him on the blue couch which he loved to sit in; he had lost all consciousness. I began to pray but only sounds of groanings came forth with loud weeping. It was a Sunday morning and I had been to early Morning Prayer. After much travailing in prayer, I noticed my son’s eyes opened but were glassy. I then began to walk the floor and reminded God of His word from the Gospel of Mark chapter 11:24 NKJV. (24) “Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.” I continued, Father, You promised that if I call, you will answer and show me great and mighty things, which I do not know. (See Jeremiah chapter 33:3) Father, in Jesus’ name; heal my son and I believe your word that he is healed! Amen.

My son arose from the couch and he was and is still healed today doing the work of the LORD. The power of prayer will connect you with the Power Source which flows from the throne room of God. I challenge you today to continue to pray about everything and to increase the time you spend in prayer: With the understanding that whether you sit, kneel, stand, walk or lay prostrate. God hears you and He still answers prayer! Make the power of prayer vibrant in your life to receive, Mark chapter 11:24 NKJV. (24) “Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.”

Let’s pray: Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus. Bless, keep, and preserve our souls; mend our broken hearts, heal all hurt, remove those things that hinder and distract from time spent with You O LORD. Remove doubt and fear; replace with activated faith, which will empower us to climb the mountains in our lives; to explore new heights in You O God. Stretch forth now your hand of mercy and compassion to heal, deliver. Cut away the ties that lead our hearts astray and bring us to that place in You Abba, Father that we will pray without ceasing. Amen.
