Definition of suffocate (New Webster’s Dictionary): to oppress, smother.

A few years ago, while I shampooed my hair and was about to rinse it, suddenly, a severe blow to the back of my neck caused everything in the room to spin and rapidly it felt as if I was losing consciousness.

Instinctively, my hands gripped the faucet to maintain my balance. An unknown language came up from within. An unsettling presence brought with it an uneasiness, but this unknown language flowed fluently and kept whatever it was that had attacked me at bay. Miraculously, I regained my strength but had some difficulty walking straight.

This incident reminded me of a particular morning while sitting in my front room reading the word. My attention was drawn to a man on the outside, his feet were not touching the ground, he was arrayed in a cloak and a diadem was on his head. He was directly in front of me while I was reading the word. A similar man popped his head from behind a portrait on the wall. The unthinkable happened, an ancient dragon appeared on the floor on the side of me but I kept on reading the word.

In the dining-room, from my peripheral view, there was an angel warring. Prayer really changes things because the very second my mouth opened to pray, the man who was positioned on the outside began to hurl darts at my chest and they were hitting me. I paraphrased these words, “I have taken my place seated in heavenly places in Christ Jesus and I refuse to move! No weapon formed against me shall prosper and every tongue that shall rise to condemn me, I shall condemn for my heritage is of the Lord.” (See Ephesians 2:6 and Isaiah 54:17).

Instantly, the arrows began to bounce off my chest and the diadem fell off the man’s head, he fled in a westerly direction. The man positioned behind the portrait fled in a southern direction. The dragon, which represented Satan vanished as quickly as he came! Yes, those two incidents happened years ago; but earlier this week while walking the floor in prayer, I heard these words, ‘it is time to suffocate the enemy!’ Be it known to you, the enemy is not your husband, neither your wife, your children nor church folk. Your “boss” is not your enemy either.

Fact, human beings are not your enemy! Let’s read from the Epistle of Ephesians chapter 6 what the Apostle Paul wrote to the saints who were at Ephesus concerning the identity of the real enemy, are you ready for the truth? I am so glad you are. Ephesians chapter 6 verse 12, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”

On your journey, you too may have experienced intense warfare in your walk with Abba Father. However, you will receive renewed zeal as you run harder after God. Pause for a moment and think about Yahweh, and how it is not because of how closely we walk with God nor is it our faithfulness truth be known it is all because of God’s grace and mercy. It is time for you and me to stop playing “church,” while turning our eyes away from the demonic strongholds in the church and throughout our communities.

We have deafened our ears to the cry of the drug addicts, the prostitutes, the little boys and girls that are molested, the homeless and the destitute. Many people are depressed and are being oppressed perhaps while you are reading this article there are some who have already lost hope. It is time for the people of Yahweh to awaken and understand, we are in a spiritual battle and not against each other. Let’s cease from biting each other with hurtful bitter words and erase all negative attitudes from being displayed.

There is a real spirit world waging war daily against our walk with God. Wake up! Wake up! It is time to suffocate the enemy, not your husband, not your wife. No, do not suffocate “church folk” or any human beings because we are not fighting against each other, the real enemy who is Satan. He is gaining too much ground throughout our land. The evidence can be seen with the increasing rate of murders, stealing and destroying lives. Kindly read it again, Ephesians chapter 6 verse 12, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”

Is it possible that we as Yahweh’s people have become lazy in prayer, complacent and even stagnant? Do we consistently study the Word? Joshua 8:1 is speaking to you and to me from verse 8, “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.” Have we allowed the prayer walls and the gates to our cities to be broken down?

Is it possible that spiritual thieves and robbers along with many dark and vicious spirits are now invading our homes? Have our homes become entrenched by strongholds and are viciously attacking unsuspecting family members? There are now strange occurrences happening in homes. Relationships are failing, and Church gatherings are not exempt. I reiterate, wake up! Wake up! It is time to suffocate the enemy by following the blueprint for your life.

God will bless you for obeying but far too many of Yahweh’s people are suffering and experiencing many losses of loved ones, heartache and pain. It is time to suffocate the enemy by spending more time in the Word and in prayer. Suffocate the enemy with your praise! Dare to praise God in your darkest hour. Be obedient each time you are awakened to get up to spend that time in His presence and always follow the leading of The Holy Spirit. Forgive those who have hurt and misused you. Love and care for people whom you cross paths with. Intensify your worship unto the LORD in joy or pain and you will suffocate the enemy.

Abba Father proved Himself to be greater than the real enemy present in the bathroom! God reminded me of His Word written in my heart to demolish the enemy’s strongholds. The passage of scripture resonated in my heart from the Epistle of 2 Corinthians chapter 10 verse 4, “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds; Verse 5,” Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalted itself against the knowledge of God and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;” Verse 6, “And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.”

Abba Father gave me a new language from the throne room of His presence that no foe could withstand and reminded me from the Book of Isaiah chapter 59 verse 19, “So shall they fear the name of the LORD from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him.” Men and Women of Yahweh, suffocate the enemy by being faithful and obedient to the Laws and Commandments of God. Suffocate the enemy with the fruit of your lips as you sing the high praise of the LORD. Suffocate the enemy by standing firm on your faith and refuse to be moved by what you see! Suffocate the enemy by refusing to believe his lies and deceptions set up to distract and derail from the path God has mandated for your life. Be mindful, we are not each other’s enemy. Satan is the real enemy of our Lives. Can you hear it? Hopefully, you can because I hear it again, suffocate the enemy!
