Calling all Ministers’ wives and Ministers’ widows in Grand Bahama and the entire Bahama Islands to get ready for the 77th Annual Convention of The International Association of Ministers’ Wives and Ministers’ Widows. This Convention will convene in the city of Freeport on the beautiful island of Grand Bahama from June 17 - 23, 2017 at the Grand Ballroom of the Our Lucaya Hotel. This organization was founded in 1941 by Dr. Elizabeth Coles Bouey, the first President, and is now comprised of Ministers’ Wives and Ministers’ Widows from 103 denominations, with chapters in 41 of the United States, the District of Columbia and 18 nations on five of the seven continents.
Ministers’ Wives and their spouses, along with Ministers’ Widows and their families, will gather in Freeport, Grand Bahama for a time of fellowship, teaching, and spiritual enrichment. Therefore, Ministers’ Wives and Ministers’ Widows throughout our nation are invited to join this group of prestigious women as they make their third visit to The Bahamas as an organization.
The 50th Convention was held in Nassau in 1990 under the administration of Dr. Shirley Alexander Hart the 5th International President, and the 67th Convention was also held in Nassau in 2007 during the administration of Dr. Janie Charles Holmes the 7th International President.
Our very own Elder Vernita Josey, of Commonwealth Baptist Church of Nassau, is the International Vice President At Large of this International body, and General Chairperson for this convention. She along with Reverend Dr. Sherry Collie, also of Nassau, who is the National President; are Co- Chairpersons and the ones who made the decision to move away from the capital, Nassau, to host this years’ convention in our nation’s second city Freeport Grand Bahama. This is the first for Grand Bahama, and these visionary women are convinced that God shifted the convention from Nassau to Grand Bahama because He wants to do some incredible things for the island and its people.
Delegates will begin arriving on island from Friday June 16, and will enjoy the comfort of The Grand Lucayan Hotel and the Pelican Bay Resort, as they share in our delicious native dishes, our beautiful sandy beaches as well as browse through Port Lucaya Marketplace and the Down Town areas. The delegates will experience a time of fun and relaxation, however, there are lots of other activities planned for them.
Some of these activities will include:
*Husbands Worship Service in the hotel (Pastors, Ministers and their wives and widows are invited to join in. The public is also invited).
*Delegates worship at local Community Churches.
*International Officers Reception (by invitation only)
*Communion Service in the Grand Ballroom (Pastors and Ministers are asked to be present in their white robes. Ministers’ Wives and Widows are to be present in their white attire. The public is invited to attend.)

There is a comprehensive agenda set for this wonderful event which will cater to the entire ministerial family on a spiritual and holistic level.
