In 2 Peter 2:9,"But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy."
What a powerful, poignant text of scripture we have here before us. God is clearly speaking through the apostle Peter, as he is inspired by the Holy Spirit to speak these words of wisdom and counsel. He is speaking about the standing and position of the church in Christ.
The body of Christ is to be holy and sanctified perpetually. But I have to use this text here to point to the commonwealth of The Bahamas, the chain of islands and cays of 700 numbering so gracefully and beautifully as an emblem of His majesty.
What's your reason for writing Minister Keith, you might ask? It's to bring an awareness of the fall and backslidings of a nation that was called of God.
Psalm 9:17, "The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nation that forget God." As a nation we have turned from God and His word. Holiness is a thing of the past in the church here in The Bahamas.
Church is just formality in our country. We see the rise of sexual immorality and homosexuality growing in our Bahamas that was once a true Christian nation, that adhered to true Christian principles in the past.
2 Timothy 3:5,"Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away." So it’s a revelation of the truth of God's word concerning the apostasy that is prevalent in today’s lukewarm, carnal church.
We could see this taking place within the churches here in The Bahamas. We deny the grace, which by the way is God's power to live holy lives. God requires holiness in all of us.
We have churches plastered all over and nothing wrong with that, but the thing is we must live in accordance to His divine nature and His holy word!
God’s standard is and has always been holiness Bahamas. It’s not about the big conferences, nor the summits, nor the fancy clichés. It’s not about your status in society, not your education, nor degree.
It’s about having a real, sincere, heart-to-heart relationship with Jesus Christ of Nazareth. We have dropped the axe head of Christianity – there must be a return to the discarded values of the past!
We need Jesus to resuscitate and revive us. Not the hype, nor the same old traditional ways we have become so accustomed to Bahamas.
1 Peter 1:5, "Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time." God is able to resurrect the church here in our nation, but the church here in The Bahamas must repent and get right before a holy God that requires truth in the inward part of man.
What is keeping you back from truly surrendering to His will? What is the sin that you cherish over a true relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ? My heart goes out to my Bahamian people, because I knew where we were as a people in the past. A people that had the fear of God embedded in our moral compass and entrenched in our conscience.
2 Chronicles 7:14, "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." The Bahamas needs spiritual healing. Yes healing!
Witchcraft and other spiritually darkness that some of the people are partaking in will be exposed in the mighty name of Jesus. Yes it’s an issue too, here in The Bahamas and sadly the church. My God!
The crime rate is way too high, not to mention the bloodshed in the 242, as our young men continue to sink into a life of crime. Are we a holy people unto the Lord? That’s a question that we all have to ask ourselves individually. Am I living a holy life unto the Lord I claim to possess?
Do I truly love God with all my heart, mind, soul and strength? Give me, oh Lord the strength of Samson, the faith of Abraham, the courage of David, the boldness of Joshua and the presumptuous faith of Peter; the zeal of Phinehas and the faithfulness of Paul.
I love my country. We are small and unique. God has called The Bahamas to true faith in His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ and to submit to His will. Holiness is what He calls the nation of The Bahamas to, from the top to the bottom.
We must get right before the God that holds the whole world, with all the galaxies in the palm of His hand. If you need prayers call me at 242 -441 - 4483 on facebook. I’m here to pray for you my brothers and sisters in Christ.
