‘Together we stand, divided we fall’

Dear Editor,

As I observe the state of the country since the installation of the current governing party, May 2017, I notice what seems to be scathing attacks brewing that are arguably unwarranted.

They have been expressed via various forms of social media, from the sidelines and in gossip circles intended to highlight incompetence and seeming lack of progress moving forward.

However, I believe that the appointed party should be given reasonable time to demonstrate that they, in fact, possess a feasible plan for a brighter future. It is very unfair to expect even half of what both previous governments failed to do over the past 25 years in office, to be executed in seven months.

The saying that, “Rome was not built in a day,” indeed applies here.

It would be more productive as Bahamians that rather than lambaste the current government, we generate a list of suggestions and collectively appeal to the appointed Ministers to bring about the desired change.

“Together we stand, divided we fall.”

When the government wins, we win; when the government loses, we all lose. Thus, I use this platform to promote a step in a more positive direction. Let us be the catalyst for change in 2018, by helping our communities that ultimately strengthen the nation.

In closing, I extend Season’s Greetings and a prosperous New Year to my beloved constituents of Central Grand Bahama and indeed to my fellow Bahamians throughout the length and breadth of The Bahamas.

Former Candidate for Central Grand Bahama
