The Freeport News publishes a double edition, combining general news, hurricane information and advertising for Friday and Saturday, into the weekend product.
Management made the decision to produce a weekend edition, as was done last year regarding Hurricane Matthew. All indications are that by this evening and most of Saturday, Hurricane Irma will be upon Grand Bahama. When deciding on the weekend publication, the company was minded of ensuring that staff members were afforded a time frame to make personal hurricane preparations.
Tentatively, the next Freeport News publication is scheduled for Monday, September 11, depending upon the impact of Hurricane Matthew. The newspaper will be distributed as usual from the store depots and street vendors. Also, the paper can be purchased at the Freeport News reception area, up until 1:00 p.m. today.
