Family and friends of former Member of Parliament, Insurance Agent, businessman and comedian, David G. Wallace, are planning a Gala Dinner Roast and Toast in his honor, to be held Saturday, May 26 at the Grand Lucayan Hotel.
This Bahamian Icon may be considered as ‘The Host with The Most’ in The Bahamas, having been the Master of Ceremonies for hundreds of weddings and host of hundreds of parties, and other special events over the past 40-plus years. Known for his great humor as a ‘Stand-Up’ comedian in his one-man comedy show, “Say 99,” the shows, where he partnered with Will Stubbs in “Laugh with the Hallelujah Boys,” and his roles in the Bahamian Election plays, Wallace is well loved throughout The Bahamas and the Turks and Caicos Islands, especially on Grand Bahama Island where he resides.
Marvette Russell, Chairman of the ‘Bahamas Host with The Most’ Committee said, “While David is known for telling jokes and cracking on others, he is also a very kind-hearted man who often extends his hand of benevolence to others. He has taken it upon himself on numerous occasions to host events simply to assist persons who may be in need. It is because of this that we want to honor and celebrate him and May 26, being his birthday, is the perfect time.”
She continued, “We have planned an exciting evening with great entertainment, featuring Mr. Kirkland Bodie, better known as KB. Friends and family of Mr. Wallace will be giving him a ‘taste of his own medicine’ by Roasting/Toasting him. It promises to be a night of lambaste, laud and laughter.”
Wallace is very well known in the community of Grand Bahama. Besides the many weddings he has been the Master of Ceremonies at and birthday/anniversary parties he has hosted, he has also hosted events such as banquets for the Red Cross, The Cancer Society, The Red Rose Ball, Independence Ball, Sir Lynden Legacy Ball, The FNM Installation Ball and many church banquets. “We are, therefore, looking for the residents of Grand Bahama to support this event in great numbers,” said Russell.
To secure tickets for this formal affair persons may call 477-9566 or 439-9451 or email email@example.com.
Part proceeds of this event will go towards the US TOO Prostate Screening group here on Grand Bahama.
The committee is encouraging residents of Grand Bahama to come out and show their love to Wallace, by giving him a grand birthday celebration that he will long remember. Cocktails begin at 7:00 p.m. and dinner at 8:00 p.m.
Family and friends of Wallace are also travelling from other islands for this event. There will be a meet and greet at Pirates Cove on Friday, May 25 and all are invited to worship with him on Sunday, May 27 at 9:30 a.m. at his church, Freeport Bible. It promises to be a grand weekend.
