It was another Sunday and another win for the Ocean Motion Shipwreckers and the Grand Central Liquors Lady Kickers, the top male and female teams respectively, in the Grand Bahama Flag Football League, this past Sunday, May 21.
The Shipwreckers kept their win/loss column spotless and improved to 6-0 with a 38-0 blasting of the Royal Bahama Police Force Enforcers (1-4-1).
The Kickers (6-0) also remained undefeated as they survived their tilt with the Ultimate Crushettes by a final score of 6-0.
The defending champion Da Rock Boyz (4-2) took on the Grand Key Sharks (2-2-2) and it was another close call between the two squads. The Sharks bested the defending champions earlier in the season, but came up short this time, as Da Rock Boyz took that contest, 7-0.
The Chances Lady Alliance improved to 3-2 on the season and got by the Lady Piranhas (0-4-1), 12-6. The Buckeye Oilers (3-2-1) kept rolling and picked up a win against the Coors Light Bears (1-5), with an 18-0 shutout.
The Chances Alliance (3-3) also picked up a victory this past Sunday, this time against the Freeport Container Port Stackers (2-4). The Alliance held on for the 12-0 victory.
The Shipwreckers remain at the top of the men’s division with 122 points forced and only seven points given up all season. This week they face the third place Oilers at 6:00 p.m.
The Oilers have forced 66 points on opposing defences and have given up 35 points in the process this season.
Da Rock Boyz sit in second of the men’s division with 87 points forces versus 62 points allowed. They will take on their long time rivals, the Alliance, this Sunday, May 28 at 2:00 p.m. The Alliance sit in fourth place and have scored 40 points total while giving up 45 points in the process.
The fifth place Sharks will take on the seventh place Enforcers at 2:00 p.m. The Sharks have put up 58 points all season thus far while allowing 56 points on defense. The Enforcers have only mustered 47 points all season while allowing 103 points through six weeks.
The sixth place Stackers will take on the eighth place Bears at 3:20 p.m. The Stackers have put up 71 points all season but have allowed 75 points to opposing offenses so far. In contrast the Bears have totaled 33 points all season while allowing 133 points on defence.
While the Lady Alliance will have a bye week this Sunday the second place Sawyer’s Fresh Market Lady Enforcers (3-1) will take on the Crushettes at 3:20 p.m. The Lady Enforcers forced 31 points on opposing defenses at this juncture and have only given up 12 points. The Crushettes have forced 26 points while giving up 56 points.
The first place Kickers will take on the fifth place Piranhas at 4:20 p.m. the Kickers have forced 44 points while giving up just six points all year, while the Piranhas have only scored 13 points while giving up 48 points on the season.
