Jamal Rolle, 37, appeared before Magistrate Rengin Johnson in court #3 on Tuesday, July 9, following his first appearance a day prior, Monday, July 8, where he pleaded guilty to being in Possession of an Unlicensed Firearm, Possession of Ammunition and Possession of an Unlicensed Firearm with the Intent by Means to Endanger Life.
For the Possession of an Unlicensed Firearm, Rolle was fined $5,000.00 or 14 months imprisonment.
For the Possession of Ammunition charge, Rolle was ordered to pay $4,000.00 or serve 12 months imprisonment. As it relates to the Possession of a Firearm with the Intent by Means to Endanger Life, he was sentenced to two years imprisonment.
On Monday, July 8, when Rolle pleaded guilty to the above-mentioned charges, 49-year-old Anita Samantha Jones was also charged with Possession of an Unlicensed Firearm and Possession of Ammunition charges. She too appeared before Johnson, however, she pleaded not guilty to the charges levied against her.
On Tuesday (July 9) Jones’ charges were withdrawn.
The charges before the duo stemmed from an incident reported by police that occurred on Friday, July 5 around 9:00 p.m.
Reports were that officers of the Rapid Response Unit, while on mobile patrol in the area of East Sunrise Highway, stopped and searched a Honda Civic with two occupants. The officers discovered a .40mm Glock pistol with a magazine containing four rounds.
In other crime news, law enforcement officials on the Island of Bimini continue to seek the public’s assistance in locating 32-year-old Juvin Eric Sawyer of Alice Town Bimini.
Sawyer is wanted for possession of an unlicensed firearm and dangerous drugs with the intent to supply. He is considered armed and dangerous.
Sawyer is described as standing 5’8” tall and weighing between 160 to 170 pounds, slim build and medium brown complexion.
