Under the theme, ‘Except the Lord Build the House,’ the family of New Horizon Worship Centre (NHWC) is celebrating the church’s first anniversary this month.
Established in July 2018 by Pastor Karol and Sis. Glenys Roache, the inaugural service for NHWC was held on July 15, 2018 at Pelican Bay Resort, Freeport.
The church has since relocated to Calvary Bible Activity Centre on Sergeant Major and Cromwell Drive.
The first anniversary service will take place the last Sunday of this month, July 28, however, the church is observing this milestone throughout the month of July.
Rochelle Smith, a Council Member of NHWC and Coordinator of the first anniversary events said, “The Lord our God has blessed the journey and watched over us during the past year. As a church family we are excited about the plans and activities slated for the entire month of July to celebrate God’s immense favor showered on us during the past year as we look with great anticipation toward a glorious future.”
Smith said that the celebrations will feature various ministries of the church as follows:
Sunday, July 7, 9:00 a.m. – J.A.M. (Jesus and Me) Kids, Children’s Ministry Sunday
Sunday, July 14, 9:00 a.m. – Generation C, Student/Youth Ministry Sunday
Monday, July 15, 6:00 p.m. – Prayer and Praise (A day of fasting and 24-hour Prayer Marathon)
Sunday, July 21, 9:00 a.m. – Ministry Expo (Showcase of NHWC’s Ministries) and T-Shirt Sunday
Friday, July 26, 7:00 p.m. – Grill-n-Chill Family Gathering (Fellowship, Games and Food)
Sunday, July 28, 9:00 a.m. – Church Anniversary Service
This past Sunday, July 7, the church’s Children’s Ministry, J.A.M. (Jesus and Me) Kids, kicked off the celebrations as they were featured during the service. The talented children performed in song and dance. Awards were also presented to the children who graduated from preschool and primary school this year and special awards were presented to the children with outstanding accomplishments during the past school year.
The Children’s Ministry is a vibrant ministry with approximately 35 children. With their motto being, ‘Connecting Kids to Christ,’ the leaders of J.A.M. Children’s Ministry connect children to Christ through creative Bible teachings and fun activities. They meet every Sunday morning at 9:00 a.m. during the church’s regular morning service.
This coming Sunday, July 14, the celebrations continue with the church’s Student Ministry, Generation C (Generation Conquerors), ‘Equipping Youth To Conquer The Trials Today.’ Generation C comprises approximately 25 teenagers who meet every Friday at 7:30 p.m. at the church for their weekly student activities and on Sunday mornings for their Student Discipleship Class during the church’s regular service.
They have been very active during the year, participating in various youth activities on the island and have also done several outreach projects in partnership with the church as well as on their own, such as providing water for athletes at the Grand Bahama Island High School Track and Field Finals.
They are also a very creative and talented group of young people as was seen in their performance at the church’s first Christmas Production, ‘The Spirit of Christmas,’ held in December of last year and also their dramatization held during the church’s Easter Service this past April.
There are several other youth focused ministries, namely Kingdom Daughters, a Connect Group for teen girls; Shabach Dance Ministry and King’s Court Boys Mentoring Group.
The general public is invited to see our youth in action this Sunday morning, or to join us at any of our upcoming anniversary celebrations.
NHWC, ‘An Oasis of Love, Hope and Transformation,’ meets on Sunday mornings at 9:00 a.m. in the Calvary Bible Activity Center on Sergeant Major and Cromwell Drive.
