Paulette and Freddie Dean II, proprietors of P and F Car Rentals, Eight Mile Rock organized the First Anything on Wheels and Car Show, which was held at Sunset Village over the weekend.
Despite inclement weather, which hampered the official 12 noon opening of the event, car lovers and “pimp riders” turned out in large numbers to not only participate in the show, but get a glimpse of what they were up against in their competitors for next year.
The couple was excited about the number of participants in their first event, and agreed that they are looking forward to next year.
After the rain held up, the judges went to work and following the count Trico ‘Golden Child’ walked away with the overall title in the Car Division.
Trico’s white and gold rimmed 2000 Ford Mustang’s shiny exterior, immaculate interior and one sleek engine stole the show.
Coming in a close second was Nelson Bethel, whose gold 1965 Chrysler Newport was the talk of the day.
Closing out the top three in that Car Division was Anthony Laing and his Cherry Red, two door 1975 Chrysler Cordoba.
Taking first place in the Truck and SUV Division was Sherwin Johnson, with his 2001 Chevy Tahoe; in second place was Syed Jolly and his 2011 Chevy Silverado and in third was Javar Campbell.
Johnson also took top place in the Motorcycle Division, followed by Daniel Rigby.
The Kids Division top three winners were Shantek Johnson, Derek Demeritte and Freddie Dean III, respectively finishing first, second and third.
The organizers thanked all the participants, sponsors and volunteers for making the event a success.
Special thanks were extended to the Member of Parliament for West Grand Bahama and Bimini, Pakesia Parker-Edgecombe; Magistrate Gwen Claude; Chief Councillor for West GB, Kevin Morris and all those attending the show.
