Anastasia and Amari Hamilton, Franaj Laing and Kalin Fyne were named the winners of the 2016 Frank’s Ice Cream Bible themed Christmas promotion on Christmas Day (December 25).

The activity geared toward young children on the island, throughout the month of December.

Frank Outten, proprietor of Frank’s Ice Cream and Nataja Williams, Office Assistant shared details about the winners and the inspiration for the contest.

The Hamiltons won first prize of $1,000; Laing, as the second place winner won $500 and Fyne won $300 as the third place finisher.

Outten said that the event was a success. “It went very well,” he added.

He revealed that people from different countries checked out the Facebook page and liked some of the videos.

Outten noted that he was inspired to develop the program by his father, who encouraged him to do it.

He added that the Christmas initiative will be an annual event.

“I’m doing this in honor of my father, Edgar ‘Junior’ Outten, who passed away last year,” he said.

Outten disclosed that his father once told him that the country needed more knowledge of the Bible.

Outten’s other Bible oriented competition is the popular Summer Youth Program, geared to encourage young persons to a closer relationship with God by studying the Bible.

At the end of this program participants take an exam and compete for prizes.  Last year’s program, “Earn As You Learn” resulted in 10-year-old Richard Little winning the grand prize, a new Jaguar vehicle.

Outten revealed that he and his team will soon begin preparing for the return of that program.

According to Williams the Christmas promotion is in its second year. It began this November and the deadline was Saturday, December 24 and children ages two to five were eligible to participate.

Williams told this daily that during the event free ice cream and gifts were given out to children and then they announced the winners.

Contestants had to be recorded saying a memory verse, reciting a prayer or anything of that nature, then send it to their whatsapp, 441-2519, or post it to their Facebook page, Frank’s Christmas Promotion.

“Whoever got the most likes won,” she said.

Williams stated that the promotion received a positive response last year and had about 30 entries.
