In connection with a shooting reported on Sunday, July 7, 33-year-old Evardo Evans of Bruce Avenue was arraigned before Magistrate Charlton Smith in Court 2 on counts of attempted murder of Antonio Johnson and Jude Young.
Dressed in a white top and jeans, Evans was not required to enter a plea.
As he stood before Magistrate Smith, his charges were read against him.
Reading off the court docket, Magistrate Smith said: “You, on the 7th of July, 2019 at Freeport, Grand Bahama being concerned together with others by means of unlawful harm, did attempt to cause harm to Antonio Johnson.
“Further for the second part of attempted murder, you on the 7th of July, 2019 at Freeport Grand Bahama being concerned together with others by means of unlawful harm did attempt to cause harm to Jude Young.
Smith then asked Evans if he understood, and he replied: ‘Yes sir.’
Smith continued: “Because of the nature of the matter, this court will not be considering bail and will remand you to The Bahamas department of correction.”
The Magistrate then advised Evans of his rights to apply at the Supreme Court for bail if he desired, but adjourned the case with a voluntary bill of indictment (VBI) set for Tuesday, September 10.
