Two men were escorted into Magistrate Court in Freeport, where they were arraigned on several counts of shop breaking and stealing from Vehicles, Friday (November 10) morning.
Keith Barr, 49, of #56 Raleigh Drive appeared before Magistrate Rengin Johnson in Court #3 on four counts of shop breaking, one count of possession of instruments for burglary and three counts of stealing from a shop.
He pleaded not guilty to all counts and was remanded to The Bahamas Department of Correctional Services until Monday, February 5, 2018 for trial.
Frederick Livingston Ward, 43, of #8 Bruce Avenue appeared before Magistrate Charlton Smith in Court #2 on five counts of stealing from a vehicle.
He pleaded guilty to one count and was sentenced to three months at The Bahamas Department of Correctional Services.
In the remaining matters he pleaded not guilty.
Magistrate Smith adjourned them to Monday, February 5, 2018 for trial. These matters are connected to incidents that were reported in the Freeport area.
In other crime news, on Friday, November 10 shortly after 7:00 a.m., officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit, acting on information went to an area on Limewood Lane, where a search was conducted and several firearms and ammunition were discovered.
Officers seized one 7.62 assault rifle with a magazine containing three 7.62 rounds of ammunition; one 9mm automatic Luger pistol with a magazine containing 10 rounds of .9mm ammunition; one Smith and Wesson .9mm pistol with a magazine containing eight .9mm ammunition.
No arrest was made in this matter.
Investigations are continuing.
