Green hauled to court on murder charges

A week after Hurricane Dorian devastated the island, Ezrin Green was escorted into the temporary court facility at the Northeastern Police Station on Jubilee Boulevard yesterday (Monday, September 8) morning, where he faced one count of murder.

Green, 36, a resident of Explorers Way, appeared before Deputy Magistrate Debbye Ferguson, who read that on September 4, 2019 in the Eight Mile Rock area, Green concerned with another did unlawfully cause the death of Clayton Bannister.

He was not required to enter a plea due to the nature of the crime and was remanded to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services until  on January 29, 2020.

At that time a Preliminary Inquiry will be held to determine where Green will stand trial.

Magistrate Gwendolyn Claude, of the Eight Mile Rock Magistrate Court, will preside over that proceeding. Ferguson also informed the suspect that he could apply for bail in the New Providence Supreme Court for quicker response, as Grand Bahama is working to recover from Hurricane Dorian.
