As Fresh Start Program participants near the end of their four-week internship at various companies throughout the island, one participant shared his job experience during an interview with The Freeport News.

Anthony Toussaint, who is interning at Senor Frogs Restaurant and Bar said that his internship experience was interesting, and an overall enjoyable one.

Toussaint explained that with his little time working at Senor Frogs he has met a plethora of persons while stationed at the Freeport Harbour, where the restaurant and bar is located.

Sharing a personal experience Toussaint revealed, “A customer came in, ordered a beer and he looked like he was having a difficult time. I just chatted with him for a few minutes and when he left he had an expression on him that was lit up. It honestly felt good to me that he came into the bar feeling down, but left feeling encouraged.”

Toussaint said this as his most memorable moment, while working at the restaurant.

He discussed some of the challenges faced while working. “The thing that challenged me the most was a few of the not so often bought drinks,” which he revealed were, at times, a bit difficult for him to produce.

Toussaint is currently studying mixology.

The FSP participant is hopeful that he will remain employed at Senor Frogs following his internship; however, even if he doesn’t secure the job he won’t let that deter him, as he is grateful to have worked at the local establishment as well as at Resort World Bimini.

He added that having the opportunity to work at both establishments proved that he has food and beverage, as well as hotel experience.

Toussaint noted that if he is not given the permanent position at Senor Frogs, having the experience would still increase his chances of being hired at a hotel that may want to help flourish his talents.

Speaking to being a part of the Fresh Start Program Toussaint said, “I feel extremely blessed, because under normal circumstances I probably wouldn’t be able to say that or be offered the opportunity to work at Senor Frogs.”
Toussaint explained that after he’s completed the Fresh Start Program, he intends to continue studying mixology, to help him further his goals, and aspirations.

He shared encouraging words for fellow participants and those coming in the program. “The Fresh Start Program is just as it says a ‘fresh start.’ You will, basically, be given the tools, given the chances and given the opportunities to prove yourself and to show that you are ready. I would tell others to take, grasp and hold onto every opportunity, because they will only encourage more opportunities to come your way.”
