Hutchison Ports scholarship recipients in last year at BMES

FCP SCHOLARSHIP AWARDEES – Hutchison Ports scholarship awardees recently visited the Freeport Container Port (FCP), where they not only had the opportunity to hear from the company’s CEO, but were encouraged to continue setting a high standard. Hutchison Ports Bahamas again congratulates three local junior high school students who were presented scholarships by Hutchison Ports back in September of 2015 to attend Bishop Michael Eldon School, Freeport, are performing extremely well in and out of the classroom.

On the invitation of Hutchison Ports Bahamas’ CEO, Godfrey Smith, and the Board of Directors for the Scholarship Committee, Charlencia Forbes, Samia Rampersad and Nahshon Jones, BMES scholarship recipients, visited and toured Hutchison Ports Freeport Container Port facilities on November 2, 2017.

In a boardroom meeting during their visit, the scholarship recipients thanked Hutchison Ports Bahamas’ executives for what they all described as a great opportunity and a “life changing experience.”

Forbes, Rampersad and Jones, who are maintaining honor grade point averages, have achieved high marks in multiple national exams and continue to demonstrate strong character and leadership skills as members of various teams and clubs.

Scholarship Committee members say they are proud of the recipients’ accomplishments to date and their outstanding work lends credence to the importance of the scholarship initiative and the selection process.

In congratulating the now high school seniors, set to graduate in June 2018, CEO Godfrey Smith told the students that they have impressively set a high standard for future scholarship recipients and he encouraged them to continue to excel and to strongly consider attending university as yet another major step to realize their full potentials.
