After more than two decades at Jiffy Cleaners, entrepreneur Marcia Weir is set to open the doors of Quality Wash and Press this Friday, April 28 in the West Mall Plaza.
In an interview with The Freeport News yesterday (Wed-nesday, April 26) proprietor of the island’s newest laundry service said that she is excited about this new business venture, despite the sluggish economy.
“After working at Jiffy’s Cleaners for over 20 years, learning and getting on-hand experience, I wanted to try something of my own and assist in rebounding the island’s economy,” said Weir.
The new business venture will offer its clients wash, press, starch and wet cleaning, and employ three Grand Bahamians in this initial stage.
“Wet cleaning is an alternative for dry cleaning and you can come and get you clothes stiff starched,” Weir explained.
Quality Wash and Press will also provide same day service, said the proprietor. “We are grateful to have found this location, because it is in a central area accessible to residents.”
Having invested hundreds of thousands of dollars to begin the new business, Weir said that it appears residents are ready for the doors to open. “While renovation and installation of equipment was being done, persons passing by questioned what was coming to the spot and after being told, they were very receptive.
“So, I am expecting great things for the new business and I am thankful for the support already shown.”
Weir said the doors will open at 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Monday to Friday and 8:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturdays, and the services will be affordable.
”I thank God and my family for this wonderful journey from long term employee to employer. I am truly grateful to my former employer for the many years of experience and expertise. I intend to go above and beyond to satisfy customers.
“I hope my move would inspire other Bahamians in different fields to empower themselves by making an investment. The facts are stubborn no risk, no reward. I have every confidence in the Grand Bahama economy. Good service, I believe, will amount to good business success.”
