A team from Baha Mar is expected to travel to Grand Bahama July 26 - July 28 on a recruitment exercise, hoping to fill positions available at the mega resort in the capital.
Baha Mar’s Public Relations’ Manager, Vanessa Christie confirmed on Thursday (July 19) recruitment teams from the company and three hotel chains encompassed in the mega resort – SLS, Rosewood and The Grand Hyatt – are expected on the island next week to hold an extensive meet and greet, and recruitment exercise, to offer Grand Bahamians interested in joining their team first hand insight on the resort.
According to Christie, Baha Mar’s Assistant Director Human Resources, Vonya Ifill and Baha Mar’s Outreach Manager, Nicole Uriafv will be traveling to Grand Bahama along with representatives from SLS, the Grand Hyatt and from Rosewood, who will speak on behalf of their brands.
The group will host informative sessions about the Baha Mar brand and discuss various job opportunities.
The sessions will be held at the Church of the Ascension, West Beach and Arden Forest Roads between the hours of 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
Additionally on July 28, between the hours of 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. a special session will be held for all recent college and university graduates – ‘Info and Blu Mix’ – where, again, information on the Baha Mar brand will be disseminated.
“If persons are interested in not only visiting the sessions, but actually setting up an interview – for example if they have visited our website and found a position that they are interested in – they can complete the ‘Baha Mar Associate Search Grand Bahama 2017’ application, along with sending a copy of their résumé to firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject ‘Baha Mar Associate Search Grand Bahama 2017.
“From that they can have an interview, while the team is on island,” Christie explained.
“You do not have to come to Nassau for the first interview; if persons are interested in taking this route they would first have to sign up on our website. This option is open to everyone who is interested.
“There are a wide range of job opportunities available at Baha Mar. The SLS and Rosewood teams are really looking for everything – from marketing, finance, housekeeping, and front desk among others. It is SLS, Rosewood and The Grand Hyatt, but Baha Mar as well, that are looking to recruit.
“We have a spa, retail, the casino as well as other ongoing initiatives, where we need to restock the team and add more manpower to our operation.
“Right now we are at 2,000 people, but by April of next year we want to be at about 5,000 persons. That is more than doubling the workforce right now, so we really need everyone who is on board.
“We are looking for the best and the brightest, but even if you do not possess all of the skills that you may feel are required of a certain position … but once you have the right attitude and are an enthusiastic learner, we will be more than happy to guide you, to where you want to go.”
Christie noted that she and the entire Baha Mar team are hopeful that the turnout will be great and persons on Grand Bahama will be able to find jobs within the Baha Mar resort.
