Those terrible teeth talk

When I was a young person, I foolishly use to open coke bottles with my teeth. The result was broken and chipped dentition.

Please do not be so foolish.

However, my subject today is how foolishly many Bahamians are digging their graves with their teeth. The teeth problem I refer to is not our very capable dental professionals, but our medical problem today is that of the GLUTTON. “Eat to live. Don’t live to eat!”

GLUTTONY - The Bible is a health text book. Deuteronomy 21:20 states: “This son of ours is stubborn and rebellious, and he refuses to obey us. He is a glutton and a drunkard.”

The problem of extreme obesity is a growing epidemic in our country and it starts in childhood. When children become over-eaters and obese, they lay down fat cells which are permanent; therefore, it is most difficult to lose the weight later on. These permanent fat cells look terrible in men; giving them gynecomastia - that is “breasts like women!”

Proverbs 20:20 and 21states: “Among those who gorge themselves on meat (21) For a drunkard and a glutton will come to poverty.”

“Red meat causes Gout.”

Obesity is a prelude to many diseases like diabetes, heart disease, arthritis and others. Other than playing the front line in American football, there is absolutely no benefit in putting on a lot of weight. It is otherwise objectionable to your health in every way.

Gluttony resulting in obesity is a nutritional illness of excess - “easy to gain - very hard to lose.”

If the Bible is so clear, why is it then that many Christians, including pastors and priests catching this disease?

Those terrible teeth talk: the ‘see’ food diet they have, whenever they SEE FOOD. There is a discipline in restricting how much food and drink you imbibe.

This is compounded by eating foods later, “trucking” between meals and a growing lack of exercise. We drive everywhere no matter how short the distance may be.

FASTING - This is a major missing piece of the gluttony SIN. There is the Daniel fast (three weeks) and the Esther fast (three days). There are others of varying lengths.

I recommend a weekday fast (Wednesdays), every week, to ensure the discipline is regular as exercise should be. “Walking makes the body sing with Joy!’

So here is my new diet plan for the New Year 2018 (5778). Please, the joy of making the temple of the Holy Spirit more accommodating should be one of your New Year’s goals.

“God don’t like ugly and I detest fat!”

This diet on chemical breakdown is proven. Do not vary or substitute any of the foods – salt and pepper may be used – absolutely no butter and mayonnaise. No other seasonings. Where no quantity is given, therefore, no restriction other than common sense is expected to operate.
In three days you lose 10 pounds. After three days of dieting, you can eat normal foods, but do not overdo it. After four days of normal eating, start your diet again. You lose up to 40 pounds in one month if you stick to this diet. Do not “pick” in between meals.
Exercise for 33 minutes daily; except Saturday and Sabbath.
BREAKFAST: Black coffee/tea (no cream and sugar), 1/2 grapefruit or melon, 1 slice of toast, 2 tablespoons of Peanut Butter.
LUNCH: 1/2 cup tuna, 1 slice toast
DINNER: 2 slices of any kind of meat or fish (2oz), 1 cup of string beans, 1 cup of beets, 1 small apple, 1 cup of vanilla ice cream.

BREAKFAST: Black coffee/tea (no cream or sugar), 1 egg, 1 slice toast, 1/2 cup of banana.
LUNCH: 1 cup of cottage cheese, 5 saltine crackers
DINNER: 2 hot dogs (chicken not pork), 1 cup of broccoli, 1/2 cup of carrots, 1/2 cup of vanilla ice cream.

BREAKFAST: Black coffee/tea (no cream of sugar), 3 saltine crackers and cheddar cheese, 1 small apple.
LUNCH: 1 hard boil egg, 1 slice of toast
DINNER: 1 cup of tuna, 1 cup of beets, 1 cup of cauliflower, 1/2 cantaloupe, 1/2 cup of vanilla ice cream.

This is your detox day. Do not skip it!!
Alkaline water with 100% Juice
Eat out of flat square plates - no microwave
Do not drink out of plastic - glass only
