Relying on the intelligence branch of spiritual warfare

Before opposing forces engage in a war, it is war protocol to covertly learn the strengths and weaknesses of each other to ultimately achieve victory.

This is usually achieved by sending in a spy to retrieve information on the enemy or even sending in a drone aircraft to collect information on the enemy from thousands of miles in the air.

Spiritual warfare is no different.

The intelligence branch of every believer of Jesus Christ as it relates to spiritual warfare would be their dreams, visions, prophecies, and discernment.

However, whenever these spiritual tools are disabled or ignored then defeat becomes the inevitable.

In 2 Kings 6, beginning at verse 31, the story is told where the king of Israel was challenged with a severe recession (famine) in Israel that it pained him to hear the cries of his people.

One particular woman’s complaint was so grieving that he promised himself that he would literally cut off the head of Elisha the prophet, who I guess he felt was somehow responsible for the egregious economic disaster that Israel was experiencing at that time.

Here is where the story becomes very interesting. The scripture records that while Elisha was sitting in his house with the Elders, unknowing to Elisha, the king had sent an assassin to carry out the promise he’d made to himself to have Elisha’s head severed from his body in that day.

However, in spite of the odds being stacked against Elisha physically, meaning he has absolutely no physical knowledge of what’s about to happen to him. God as usual fulfills his promise according to Amos 3:7, God said that he will not allow nothing to take place in the earth unless he reveal the SECRETS to his PROPHETS first!

So, God through spiritual intelligence revealed to Elisha the evil plans that were not only concocted against him but were at the same time set in motion:  32. Elisha was sitting in his house, and the elders were sitting with him.

Now the king had dispatched a man from his presence, but before the messenger arrived Elisha said to the elders, “Do you see how this murderer has sent to take off my head? Look, when the messenger comes, shut the door and hold the door fast against him. Is not the sound of his master’s feet behind him?”

33. And while he was still speaking with them, the messenger came down to him and said, “This trouble is from the Lord! Why should I wait for the Lord any longer?”

My friend I said all of that to say this, YOU ARE IN AN INVISIBLE WAR, known as spiritual warfare. Your success in this war will be based on the spiritual intelligence (inTEL) you garner through the spiritual portals of prophecy, dreams, visions and the gift of discernment.

As a reminder, we are NOT warring with people. Instead, the primary targets of this war are spirits, influencing people, places and things.

The above passage of scripture is the exact same thing God desires to achieve with you if you would only discontinue relying on your limited knowledge and intelligence. As of this moment, scratch and toss to the side what you think you know based on what you are physically exposed to and ask God to reveal the secrets of your enemies to you which will better aid you in victory in your physical and spiritual battles.

“Father in the name of your son Jesus Christ! Thank you for your spiritual armor that I have wisely outfitted myself with upon waking this morning. Thank you Lord for your angelic host that you’ve aided me with as another means of spiritual protection according to psalm 91:11-12. Additionally, I am most grateful for the invisible hedge of protection that surrounds me according to Job 1:10.

However, Lord, while I am eternally grateful for the many layers of spiritual protection you’ve afforded me, I humbly ask you to amplify the intelligence branch of my warfare in the areas of prophecy, dreams, vision and my ability to see beyond the natural things of this world through the gift of discernment, just like you did for your servant Elisha in the mighty and matchless name of your son and our Lord and savior Jesus Christ. Amen!
