Love and Marital Bliss

Happy pre-Valentine’s Day to all those who are in love, to all those who think they are in love, and to all those who don’t know and don’t care.

Here are a few Valentine quotes that I thought were nice to share: “Love doesn’t make the world go round, Love is what makes the ride worthwhile.”

“I only want to love you twice in my lifetime, that’s Now and Forever.” “Roses are red, violets are blue, our home is blessed because of you.”

“A hundred hearts would be too few to carry all my love for you.”

These are all beautiful quotations that evoke a longing in our hearts and soul for what we truly desire.

To know that we are the object of his or her eyes. The one that he or she cannot live without, the heartbeat of his or her heart. The truth of the matter is, it does not just happen as easy as that.

To have that blissful and passionate love relationship in your marriage, you must be prepared to work at making it that way.  It does not just happen.

The writer of the devotional following, likens the preparations for a good marriage to that of a young Christian, who in order to grow and mature spiritually, has to undertake the necessary steps in order to do so. There has to be training and instructions.

You must learn and study the subject matter. You must study the theory and also the practical. There are no shortcuts when it comes to matters of the heart. To make it right, you must do it right. You must be authentic and truthful.

Trust is one of the greatest factors in a marriage... lose that and your foundation inevitably begins to erode. You must sacrifice for each other. There must be mutual respect and reciprocation also.

Love can make the heart warm or it can make the heart cold. It can make the heart sweet or it can make the heart bitter. When the heart is either cold or bitter, the relationship will be either cold or bitter.

Work at keeping the heart warm and sweet. Everything with meaning originates or transcends from there. The Bible says, “Keep your heart with all diligence for out of it flows the issues of life” (Proverbs 4:23).

Let love and kindness flow from a loving and kind heart. Let husbands love and protect their wives. Let wives reverence and respect their husbands. When husbands love their wives, they do not have to demand respect, it will flow automatically.

Let kind and gentle words resonate within the walls of your home. For whatever word seeds you allow in your home, these will spring up in your home.

I hope you enjoy this devotional, “Practicing For A Christian Marriage,” and that it sheds a little light on the situation that you might find yourself in at this time. Here is our devotional.

“To become a powerful Christian, one must first receive training and discipleship. Without this process of preparation, a Christian remains vulnerable to the attacks of the enemy and ignorant to his rights in Christ Jesus.

The same process applies to a husband and wife. Without prior preparation and instruction of what a Christian marriage is all about, they will be poised for disillusionment and many setbacks.

Knowing your partner and how he or she feels about life, God, work, money, children, and the future takes time, intuitiveness, communication, and discernment. This kind of knowledge does not come automatically. It is not inherent but learned. If this crucial teaching is not based upon the Word of God, it will lack the most important asset: the necessity of the power of Christ in us to withstand every attack of the enemy.

Marital love and harmony is not something we conjure up or try to make happen. God, our Heavenly Father, created us with the capacity to love and delight each other” (Iris Delgado- ‘Satan, You Can’t Have My Marriage’ pg. 123). “Practicing For A Christian Marriage” Spiritual Warfare Bible, pg. 775.

Always let love prevail. Do not strive to be right, strive to do the right thing. Love is a divine gift from God. Do not abuse it.

God Bless you today. Margaritta Munroe, ladymunroe242@gmail.com
