List of events announced leading to Bishop Capron’s retirement

The Church of God of Prophecy of Pinedale, Eight Mile Rock is celebrating Bishop Cleophas L. Capron Jr.’s 25 years of service in preparation for his retirement with a month of events.  


Representatives from the church provided information on the celebration during a press conference on Thursday (March 2) at the Community At Heart Tabernacle Church of God of Prophecy.


Retirement Service Committee Member, Valeria Burrows disclosed that Bishop Capron will be retiring on Friday, March 31, 2017.  

She announced the list of events, which begins with an ‘Anything-a-thon’ on Saturday, March 4 at 6:00 a.m. beginning at the Church of God of Prophecy in Pinedale Eight Mile Rock.  


There would be light aerobics led by Alice Williams of Mind, Body and Soul Fitness and various health screenings for blood pressure, cholesterol and glucose levels done by health care professionals.  


Then on Saturday, March 11 there would be an evening of commendation at the church in Pinedale, starting at 7:00 p.m.


The event will feature David Wallace, Wilbert “Will” Stubbs and The Cooling Waters.


The following three events are pre-celebration services at the Church of God of Prophecy in Pinedale.  


The first service is scheduled for Tuesday, March 21 at 7:30 p.m., featuring guest speaker pastor Cedric Beckles of Life Community Church, with the Grand Bahama Taxi Union Choir as guest artist. 


The second service is set for Wednesday, March 22 at 7:30 p.m. featuring Bishop Ricardo Grant of Universal Household of Faith as the guest speaker and music by The Bahamas Brass band.


The third service takes place on Thursday, March 23 at 7:30 p.m. and will have Bishop George Thompson of the Community At Heart Tabernacle Church of God of Prophecy as the guest speaker with music by The Bahamas Youth Brass Band.


The final event would be a Praise and Thanksgiving Service at the Church of God of Prophecy, Pinedale on Sunday, March 26 at 3:00 p.m.  


Bishop Elgarnet B. Rahming, National Overseer Emeritus, Church of God of Prophecy is expected to be the guest speaker, with music by the Bahama Brass band.  


Bishop Thompson noted that Bishop Capron has served the church with distinction.


“Very distinct in his approach to ministry,” he said.


He added that they are “delighted” to honor him in this special way.


Bishop Joseph Leon Hall shared his thoughts on Bishop Capron noting, “He has been a blessing to us.”


Hall added that the Bishop has always led by example.


Minister Keith Palmer, Associate Pastor at the Pinedale church also acknowledged Capron’s positive role in the church.


“As a Bishop we have seen his love and his devotion to his church, his family and indeed his community,” he said.


Palmer noted that because of Capron’s stellar record of great works, the Church of God of Prophecy has seen fit to honor him with these events.  


“We are anticipating a celebration that is next to none, come Sunday evening,” he said. 


Palmer added that Bishop Capron Jr.’s ministry has brought many denominations of people together and their church is proud of his efforts. 


 The church invites all residents of Grand Bahama to participate in these festivities and pay tribute to Bishop Capron Jr.
